Description

Trail Operations in southern British Columbia is one of the world's largest integrated zinc and lead smelting and refining complexes. It also produces critical minerals (germanium, indium, antimony) and chemicals/fertilizer products. Strategy in 2025-26 prioritised by-product processing of higher-margin stockpiled residues over maximising refined zinc, increasing lead and silver output. A Q3 2024 electrolytic zinc plant fire triggered a CAD 1.1 billion pre-tax impairment. Recycling treated 23,500 tonnes in 2025, targeting ~29,000 tonnes in 2026. Trail processes Red Dog concentrate and arms-length supply from third parties.
