Kwinana lithium hydroxide refinery is on a 40.5-hectare long-term leased site (Lot 15, Mason Road, Kwinana, ~45 km south of Perth and 26.5 km from the Port of Fremantle). SQM holds a 50% interest via the Covalent Lithium JV with Wesfarmers. The refinery has nameplate capacity of 50,000 metric tons per year of battery-grade lithium hydroxide. Conversion of spodumene concentrate to battery-grade LiOH is expected to be completed in 2027. First successful production of lithium hydroxide at Kwinana was achieved in 2025; ramp-up is ongoing.
