Coya Sur is SQM's potassium nitrate processing facility in northern Chile. Coya Sur produces the finished nitrate products (sodium nitrate, potassium nitrate, NPT plants/technical-grade potassium nitrate) from feed solutions trucked from María Elena and Pedro de Valdivia, plus nitrate salts from heap leaching at Nueva Victoria. A new potassium nitrate plant was completed in 2011 adding 300,000 metric tons/year of capacity. From Coya Sur, finished nitrate products are transported by truck to the Port of Tocopilla terminal for shipment.
