First U.S.-owned, U.S.-technology uranium enrichment facility producing High-Assay Low-Enriched Uranium (HALEU), located in Piketon, Ohio and operated by Centrus subsidiary American Centrifuge Operating LLC under contract with the U.S. Department of Energy. Enrichment operations began on October 11, 2023, with the first HALEU delivery to DOE on November 7, 2023 completing Phase 1 (initial 20 kg) using a cascade of 16 AC100M centrifuges built under the HALEU Demonstration Contract. The plant transitioned to Phase 2 in November 2023, operating at an annual production rate of 900 kg HALEU UF6, which Centrus produced and delivered to DOE on a cost-plus-incentive-fee basis; DOE increased the Phase 2 contract value to $170.1 million and extended performance to January 31, 2026. In September 2025 Centrus announced a major expansion of Piketon enrichment for large-scale LEU and HALEU production, and on January 5, 2026 DOE selected the operator for a $900.0 million task order to add commercial-scale HALEU capacity (subject to a definitive agreement). The site underpins approximately $2.3 billion of contingent LEU sales commitments.
