Open-pit copper complex 47 miles north of Calama in Chile's El Loa province, Antofagasta region; in operation since 1996. FCX owns 51%; state-owned CODELCO holds 49%. Porphyry copper deposit with bornite/chalcopyrite primary sulfides and chrysocolla oxide mineralization. SX/EW facility with 500 Mlb/yr cathode capacity fed by a 115,000 t/d crushed-leach circuit and ROM leaching. FCX has identified a large sulfide reserve supporting a potential major mill project similar to Cerro Verde's concentrator that could add over 700 Mlb/yr of copper production (advanced pre-feasibility; ~$7.5B indicative capital per prior estimates; 17.5 blb of reserves copper associated with the potential mill project). Renewable power under long-term Engie contract; water from Salar de Ascotan aquifer.
