FCX's wholly owned copper smelting and refining unit on port-authority land concessions in Huelva, Spain (concessions expire 2038). Smelter design capacity ~300,000 t/yr copper; refinery capacity 286,000 t/yr. In 2025 purchased 77% of concentrate from third parties, 21% from FCX South America and 2% from U.S. mines. Major maintenance turnarounds ~every eight years (17-day turnaround in 2024). Developing the CirCular e-material recycling project (smelting furnace addition to recover Cu, Au, Ag, Pd, Sn, Ni and Pt from electronic waste; ~$560M initial capital; operations expected to commence 2026).
