Solar solution potash (MOP/sylvinite) operation in the Carlsbad Potash District, Eddy/Lea Counties, New Mexico, part of Intrepid's IPNM complex. Saturated NaCl brine is injected into mined-out HB underground workings to create leach lakes; potash-enriched brine is crystallized in 18 solar evaporation ponds and processed at the HB flotation mill. Product is compacted/granulated at the North plant. Lowest-cost solution-mining method (less labor/energy than conventional).
